What Is Quantum Salon? A Quick Introduction

Plus a peek at the framework we use to think about quantum tech startups

I had the pleasure of speaking at the Quantum Industry Networking Event at Perimeter Institute. In my talk, I gave a quick introduction to Quantum Salon and shared the framework we use to think about quantum tech startups, covering the diversity of technologies, markets, and stages in the ecosystem, and the four axes we use to understand what kind of support a startup actually needs.

It was a real treat to share the stage with other local quantum folks: Bohdan Kulchytskyy from Nord Quantique, Alexander Neirinckx from Irréversible, Abdullah Khalid from 1QBit, Meenu Kumari, PhD from the National Research Council Canada, Benjamin MacLellan from Open Quantum Design / Ki3 Photonics, Mercedes Gilroy from Coin Edge, Yushao Chen from Xanadu, Chang Liu from WaveRyde, and Stephanie Bohaichuk from Quantum Valley Ideas Lab.

Thanks very much to the PI Career Trajectories team for organizing the event and to the PI AV team for putting together the recording!

Quantum Salon Insights is an independent reader-supported research project focused on making sense of the quantum tech ecosystem.

Here we explore the ideas, patterns, narratives, and structural misalignments that show up across quantum tech and adjacent deep-tech fields.
